Let your memory be your travel – 2021

2021 was an amazing year full of new adventures! We started off the year by traveling to Virginia to start a new job surveying commercial properties. Ya’ll, it was COLD in Virginia in January! What were we thinking! I wore multiple layers of clothing to survive. We made our way to Chapel Hill, North Carolina, as well as several other stops in North and South Carolina. I found a fun wine bar in Fort Mill that we enjoyed on one of the trips to South Carolina. We discovered Amazon lockers, which are a necessity for life on the road. We found another winery…….we think it was in Tennessee! We are going to have to do better at documenting locations in 2022. We discovered Mission BBQ in Chattanooga. It’s a chain, but we recommend them. Chattanooga was a hit because we also explored Lookout Mountain, Point Park National Park and a little whisky tasting. Somehow, we made it to Kentucky and another national park, Mammoth Cave. It was not our favorite, but fun all the same. Onto Ohio! We had a lot of fun in Ohio. Downtown Dublin was a neat place, we explored the Great Circle Earthworks, bought chocolate in Hartville and enjoyed the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland. West Virginia and Pennsylvania are not to be left out! I especially enjoyed Pittsburg! One of the highlights of the spring, though, had to be NIAGRA FALLS! If you ever get the chance to go…..take it! It was a trip to remember. Indiana is a bit of a blur, but Rick caught a tiny fish! We didn’t work in Utah but enjoyed it all the same. Echo Canyon is gorgeous, and we were greeted by Prairie dogs. We stopped at the Bonneville Salf Flats. That was a truly unique experience! In Nevada, we visited Reno, which Rick complained about and Lake Tahoe, which is fabulous! It was June and the water was 58 degrees. People were swimming, but not us! We celebrated our anniversary in California and then met a fellow Lippert Scout moderator in Nevada City. Contrary to what Rick might say, we enjoyed California. We found a fun indoor market that had amazing fresh foods and homemade tamales! Napa was full of vineyards and that is also where we installed our motorhome solar. We toured San Francisco on Go-Cars, three wheeled motorbikes that were equipped with a GPS tour guide. In July, we met up with a high school classmate of mine that I hadn’t seen in a few decades in Spokane, Washington! We had dinner and then threw axes at his business. What a blast! I absolutely loved Washington. Silverdale and Poulsbo were just beautiful. Seattle was unforgettable. Loved the entire experience, especially the flying fish! While in Bellingham, we went on an amazing whale watching tour. We didn’t get super close to the whales, but it was a blast all the same. We even ended up in Canada! Rick fished unsuccessfully in Montana, but the scenery made it worth it. The Badlands and Medora North Dakota was a nice treat. We made our way to the Lippert Rally and stopped in Red River Gorge in Kentucky. At the rally, we explored Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg, TN. We also got to meet some more friends! Next stop – Chicago suburbs. We ventured out and found a cute little downtown area in Batavia, Il. After Illinois, we once again had work in Indiana, but soon we were on our way back to Kentucky. This time we were able to explore some distilleries. Continuing our trip south, we worked in Nashville and Memphis, making our way to the DFW area. Rick got a new puppy in December. Daisy is enjoying the company. For Christmas, we took grandkids to Silver Dollar City. Hopefully they had a good time! After Christmas, it was back on the road and off to Florida for the new year! We enjoyed a quiet New Year’s Eve in Delray Beach Florida. We have traveled the country seeing things neither of us ever expected to see, made new friends, saw old friends, put our feet in both the Pacific Ocean and the Atlantic Ocean and overall had the most amazing year!
